From the recording Finally
The lyric at the end of previous sections serves as the musical theme for this song. “The tree remembers the rain, and I remember you” is my sentiment regarding friends, family, and most of all my wife. Like the rain, they have made life possible and enjoyable. I am not a singer, but at Craig and Charley’s urging, I re-recorded the scratch vocal for the track. Ken Fozo, a high school friend with his own musical history, was recruited to join on the chorus. I have always felt like the Caribbean is a second home, hence the waves.
Lyrics
Finally (Part 5): The Love
This, this is a song for us.
This, this is a song for love.
This, this is a song for us.
This, this is our song.
I never dreamed of our love,
I never dreamed of our life.
My children and their children,
My friends and my home,
They are always with me
No matter where I go.
You’re my captain, you’re my crew,
There’s nothing I won’t do.
You’re my voyage, you’re my home,
We’re together, we’re alone.
The rough seas are behind us,
The mutiny’s in our past.
It’s smooth sailing now
With the wind at our back.
This, this is a song for us.
This, this is a song for love.
This, this is a song for us.
This, this is our song.
My God.
My wife.
Our children.
Their children.
And when the voyage is over,
When there’s nowhere else to sail,
I’ll hold you in my dreams,
Our forever fairytale.
This, this is a song for us.
This, this is a song for love.
This, this is a song for us.
This, this is our song. Finally.
