From the recording Finally

As previously mentioned, Craig, and other friends, helped steer me away from some self-destructive behaviors. Some of the lines of the song were taken from a note he had given to me in high school. I didn’t know how universal the notion of walking the tracks was. Sure there is the movie Stand By Me, but when my wife mentioned that she talked about life with a friend while walking the tracks, I decided that it was common enough to include in the song. Highlights of the song include Charley’s stair-step bass, Tom Cooper’s acoustic guitar, and Craig’s soaring guitar solo and organ riffs.

Lyrics

Finally (Part 2): The Friend

Your train of thought has been derailed.
Your lost has found a confused tale.
You claim to be at the end of your rope.
I am here to bring you hope.

I’m your track walking friend,
On the tracks that never end.
Take my hand and walk with me.
I’m your track walking friend.

There’s no light on the caboose,
Only a light up ahead.
Worlds collide and intersect.
The future drives, the past forgets.

I am real. We share the music.
I am your friend. Tempo and words.
We come together. The truth is light.
You are not alone. Don’t tell me lies.
My helper, a helpee, Bolie shri,
My friend, a guru. Satgurudev.
In the game of life, Life is strange.
You won’t quit. But beautiful.

More often than not, I am your brother.
More often than not, I’m your friend.
I love you.
The tracks bend.

I’m your track walking friend,
On the tracks that never end.
Take my hand and walk with me.
I’m your track walking friend.

I’m your track walking friend.

The tree remembers the rain, and I remember you.
